Our 12-day tour of Spain and Portugal is overflowing with rich cultural and historical experiences. We explore iconic cities like Madrid, Toledo, and Lisbon and enjoy scenic landscapes such as the Duoro Valley. The itinerary includes luxurious accommodations, gourmet meals, wine tastings, and a even short river cruise!
Day 1 - USA - Madrid
THURSDAY - Overnight flight to Madrid, the capital of sunny Spain!
Day 2 - Madrid - Welcome Dinner Tonight
FRIDAY - Bienvenidos a España! Madrid welcomes you with its friendly atmosphere. Our representative will greet you and arrange the transfer to the hotel.
Early this evening well enjoy a panoramic tour of Madrid including Retiro Park, Alcala Gate, Serrano's street, Columbus Square. For you shoppers, youll be happy that our hotel is situated in the heart of the downtown shopping district. Well end the day with dinner and wine at our hotel.
Day 3 - Madrid - Toledo - Madrid - Traditional Spanish Lunch
SATURDAY - This morning, we travel to Toledo, the historical, cultural, and religious heart of Spain, known as the city of 3 cultures due to its Islamic, Hebrew, and Christian influences.
We will visit the Cathedral and the Church of Santo Tom to see the famous El Greco painting "El Entierro del Conde de Orgaz" (The Burial of the Count of Orgaz).

Day 4 - Madrid - City Tour - Leisure

MONDAY - Today, we say goodbye to Madrid and drive north to Segovia to feast our eyes on the famous 2,000 year-old, Roman Aqueduct (UNESCOs World Heritage site).
We then head to Avila, with a stop to take photos of the best preserved medieval ramparts in Europe (UNESCOs World Heritage site). Upon arrival in Salamanca, we will have a walking tour of the world-famous Old University.
Dinner with great wines will be served at our hotel.
Day 6 - Salamanca - Douro Valley Lunch - River Cruise to Porto
TUESDAY - We will drive to the Douro Valley, where we will visit and have lunch at the famous Quinta da Pacheca. Afterwards, we will board a small river cruise on the Douro River to Porto.
Day 7 - Porto - Wine Tasting - Leisure Afternoon - Dinner Out

Day 9 - Porto - Tomar - Obidos - Lisbon
FRIDAY - On or way from Porto to Lisbon, we will make a stop in Tomar to visit the Convent of Christ - once the Knights Templars headquarters in Portugal!

Free time on your own before dinner at our Lisbon hotel.
Day 10 - Lisbon - Sintra & Cascais Excursion - Lisbon - Fado Dinner Show
SATURDAY - We will visit Sintra National Park, including the 500 year-old National Palace.
Then, we will enjoy a beautiful panoramic drive along the wild Atlantic coast of Guincho and view Cape Roca - Europes westernmost point!
The old fishing town of Cascais (cus-KAIZ) is not far. Now its one of the fanciest towns in Portugal!
The word "fado" means "fate" in Portuguese, and Fado songs reflect lost love, heartbreak, and hope. Tonight, we will enjoy a famous Fado dinner-show!
Day 11 - Lisbon City Tour - Farewell Dinner Tonight
SUNDAY - We are exploring the Portuguese capital today with a visit to Jerónimos Church (UNESCOs World Heritage site), where lies every students favorite navigator, Vasco da Gama.
Well also stop to view Belm Tower and enjoy a taste of Pastel de Nata (custard tart), before we proceed to admire the impressive Monument of the Discoveries.
Tonight, we are all invited to a festive Farewell Dinner, to say goodbye to this amazing Spain and Portugal tour and the new friends we have made.
Day 12 - Lisbon - USA
