August 27, 2018

Spain is best seen through walking and exploring. A walking tour will allow you to spend several days seeing the most epic parts of a small area, with plenty of opportunities to stop and wander about. Here are a few samples of the types of walking tours you can experience, based on your activity level.

Barcelona And Costa Brava

Type: Easy

Maximum Distance Covered: 3 miles each day

On this tour you can walk up to the top of Montserrat. Up here you will see incredible views of the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Ocean. You will also have the opportunity to visit a winery and enjoy a private tasting that includes a variety of the areaâ??s more popular wines. Nature lovers will be delighted at the opportunity to visit Garrotxa Natural Park and see things like dormant volcanoes and a beech forest. The geology of this park is very unique. You will also get a chance to go over to Port Lligat and visit the home of Salvador Dali. This famous painter lived here for over 40 years. Visiting his home is like stepping back into a bit of history.

Andalusia And Seville

Type: Moderate

Maximum Distance Covered: 6 miles each day

This walking tour allows you to see some of the more rural areas of Andalusia. You can explore some of the cork-oak forests and escape some of the busyness in the city. Thereâ??s also a pig farm thatâ??s known for its jamon iberico. Itâ??s very welcoming to visitors and a great place to explore. Visitors like to spend some time wandering down Sevilleâ??s cobblestone streets and enjoy tapas along the way.

Classic Camino de Santiago

Type: Difficult

Maximum Distance Covered: 9 miles each day

For those that donâ??t mind being on their feet a lot, this is a great walking tour for them. You can visit Muxia and Costa da Morte, enjoy some of the areaâ??s seafood and head over to Albarino for a glass of wine. You will also have an opportunity to explore the archaeological site of Atapuerca. This is the site where Western Europeâ??s earliest known hominids have been found. They date back to over 1 million years. You will also get the chance to visit Astorga and see the Episcopal Palace. It was designed by famous architect, Antoni Gaudi and is the residence of the bishop. The palace towers over the area so it is a real sight to see.
